Mobilink Foundation partnered with KORT to improve education facilities for the underprivileged

ISLAMABAD, 10 October 2013: Mobilink Foundation has been acknowledged by the President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) for its contributions towards education services in AJK.

Earlier this year, Mobilink Foundation had set up a computer lab at Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust (KORT) with the latest software and internet facilities. The facility was developed to provide computer based education to KORT’s resident children, as well as train its teachers in line with the latest technology curriculum. The project was in line with Mobilink Foundation’s aim of improving the overall education facilities across Pakistan.

Omar Manzur, Head of Corporate Communications, Mobilink highlighted, “This award is testament to the integrity with which Mobilink Foundation and its Torchbearers work towards the betterment of the communities in which we operate. We are glad that the lab that we set for the KORT is facilitating better education and ready access to information for their students.’’

The computer lab set up by Mobilink Foundation at KORT helps close to 200 resident students. The lab enhances access to education at the Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust (KORT) which was established after the earthquake that devastated Pakistan and Azad Kashmir in 2005. The Trust currently operates from a custom made facility in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir and is also building a new educational complex in Jarrikas, Azad Jammu &Kashmir, which will house 1,000 orphans with a total project cost of PKR 150 million.

The Mobilink Foundation is a reflection of the commitment of Mobilink and its employees to reshape lives of the community in which Mobilink operates. Established in 2007, the Mobilink Foundation is a non-profit organization, which provides support for the local community in the areas of health, education, environment and humanitarian assistance. Being a philanthropic organization, it is purely based on employee volunteerism that enables the Foundation to spend every penny directly towards the causes it is associated with. In 2013, Mobilink Foundation became Pakistan’s first and only telecom CR function to be certified by the Pakistan Center of Philanthropy (PCP).
